frequently asked questions
What is a Japanese Head Spa?
A Japanese Head Spa is a relaxing treatment that focuses on scalp and hair health. It typically includes scalp massages, gentle exfoliation, and nourishing treatments to improve circulation, remove buildup, and promote healthy hair growth, while also reducing stress and tension.
How Should I Prepare for My Appointment?
To enjoy the full benefits of your head spa, please arrive with dry hair that hasn’t been washed for 1–3 days, free from extensions or braid downs, and without heavy styling products. We recommend coming makeup free and avoid booking with a fresh set of lashes, as steam may cause shedding.
What Should I Wear To My Appointment?
We’ve got comfy, freshly washed salon robes ready for you! If you’d rather wear your own clothes, something light like a thin-strap tank or a strapless top works best so you can fully enjoy the neck and shoulder massage that’s included in your head spa. We also recommend coming in with your hair brushed and detangled as much as possible. Don’t worry we’ll take care of detangling before your treatment, but if hair is excessively knotty, it may take extra time and slightly shorten your session.
Is A Head Spa Treatment Suitable For All Hair Types?
Yes! Our head spa treatments are customizable to suit every hair type and scalp condition. Whether you’re experiencing dryness, excess oil, dandruff, scalp odors, itchiness, product buildup, or mild flaking from psoriasis or eczema.
What Should I Expect During A Head Spa Session?
Your head spa experience begins with a thorough scalp assessment, using a specialized microscope to gain a deeper understanding of your scalp’s health. This is followed by a gentle cleanse, detox, and relaxing scalp massage to restore your follicles. Your session concludes with hair styling.
It’s ideal to schedule a head spa before or after taking down braids, on color treated hair, or whenever your scalp and hair need a refreshing reset.
Are There Any Aftercare Instructions?
To maintain the benefits of your head spa, avoid washing your hair for at least 24 hours so the treatments can fully penetrate. Use gentle, sulfate-free shampoos and minimize heat styling for the first day or two. Apply any recommended leave-in treatments or oils as directed, and stay hydrated to support scalp and hair health. Protect your hair from harsh weather or tight hairstyles, and follow any personalized guidance provided during your session.
Why Is Communication Important Before And During My Appointment?
Open communication allows us to create the best possible experience for you. By sharing your hair and scalp history, sensitivities, and treatment goals, we can select the most effective products and techniques for your needs. If anything feels uncomfortable during your service, let us know immediately so we can make adjustments and ensure your complete comfort.
Can Men Book A Head Spa?
Yes! We absolutely encourage male clients to book a session. Head spas can be especially beneficial for men experiencing balding or thinning hair, as they help improve scalp health and circulation. Simply visit our booking link, where you’ll find a Head Spa option tailored for men.
Do You Offer Treatments For Clients With Psoriasis?
Yes! While head spa treatments can’t guarantee a cure or complete clearance of psoriasis, many of our clients find them very beneficial. Scalp massages help improve circulation and reduce inflammation, our exfoliation treatment lifts away flakes and buildup, and our nourishing and moisturizing treatments soothe dryness and irritation. We recommend consulting your doctor before starting any spa treatment if you have psoriasis or another chronic skin condition.
